We have pre-booked budget accommodation for 80 participants. The default accommodation will be in the Armagh City Youth Hostel (62 beds), which will also be used for registration and social activities. If we have more than 62 participants, we will offer a number of further participants to stay in B&B (bed and breakfast) accommodation within 5-15 minutes walking distance. If you prefer to sleep in a B&B, please contact us. Note that we cannot guarantee availability of the B&B for the standard registration fee, because we need to make sure that the hostel is fully occupied.
You also have the option of the cheaper "no accommodation" registration fee, which includes all conference benefits except accommodation and breakfast. You are then responsible for arranging your own accommodation in e.g. a hotel (a list is provided further down this page).
The table below shows an overview of your options:
Option | Distance | Beds | Remarks | Early fee (before June 30) | Late fee (after June 30) |
A) Youth Hostel | 300 m | 61 | Shared dorms (4-6 ppl) | 155 EUR (all-in) | 170 EUR (all-in) |
B) Bed & Breakfast | ≤1000 m | ~18 | Shared rooms (2 ppl) | ||
C) No Accommodation | - | - | Stay in a local hotel | 110 EUR | 125 EUR |
The registration fee includes lectures, lunches, dinners, coffee breaks, excursion, t-shirt, proceedings and accommodation for 3 nights (except for option C, where accommodation is not included in the price). In the registration form you will be given the choice between these options. The sooner you register (or the sooner you contact us), the more likely that we can help you stay where you want!
Note that the breakfast in the youth hostel and one of the B&Bs is on a self-catering basis. We will provide basic ingredients (coffee, tea, milk, bread, jam, cornflakes and fruit), but the hostel will expect you to take care of your own dishes and wash them in the kitchen after use.
If you wish to bring family or kids to Armagh, get in touch with us to find your best option.
If you are a local amateur astronomer and do not require accommodation, excursion, proceedings or dinners, you can request to attend just the lectures at a small cost for coffee and lunch. Please contact us! We do encourage everyone to participate in the full program, as the dinners and social activities are lots of fun!
We expect most participants will pay in EUR to the IMO Treasurer in Belgium (for instructions, see payment page). However, if you are able to pay in GBP so that we avoid EUR to GBP currency conversion costs, please contact us.
Should you decide to book private accommodation (option C), the hotels and guest houses listed below are closest to the lecture venue and have not been pre-booked for the IMC. We have talked to the people who run these places and so we can give you further information about them; you may like to contact us before booking.
