Hasselt – Belgium, 26 – 28 February 1982

  • 3rd meeting
  • Local organizer: Paul Roggemans.
  • 17 participants from 3 countries: Belgium (9), Germany (5) and the Netherlands (3).
  • About 10 presentations, no Proceedings were made
  • Participation fee 32 Euro.

The third meeting saw several changes: English was chosen for communication and “Meteor Seminär” became “International Meteor Weekend”. For most Belgian participants it was the first experience with an English-language residential meeting. For the first time Dutch meteor observers took part, and the meeting was a challenge for all amateurs to learn to give and to attend lectures in English.

This event saw the lowest number of participants ever: the future of such meetings was at risk. Only 12 participants stayed from Friday until Sunday, but several of the day visitors grew familiar with the concept and took part in future editions. The Dutch participants volunteered to organize the 1983 event.
