As twilight was coming on January 22, 2021, a bright fireball crossed over Belgium at 06h 52min UT. It was observed and reported by over 190 persons, was captured by an amateur camera as well as by 3 video stations of Fripon meteor observing network. According to Fripon/Vigie-Ciel calculations, some meteorites may have dropped in Northern Belgium, West of Brussels.
The fireball appeared when the morning skies were brightening over Belgium: with a -7 estimated magnitude it was bright enough to be widely observed from Belgium, the Netherlands, Southern Great Britain and Northern France. It was filmed by from Almere (the Netherlands) and with 3 cameras from Fripon (Fireball Recovery and InterPlanetary Observation Network).
Analysis of videos by Fripon/Vigie-Ciel team indicates the meteoroid (coming from inner asteroid belt) entered the atmosphere with a 16 km/s speed, and was decelerated down to 6 km/s during its steep entry into the air. At the end of the luminoius path, it was 27 km altitude, and 100 g meteorites may have dropped on the ground.
