IMO Website Account

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union, the data controller, the International Meteor Organization (IMO), international non-profit organization under Belgian Law, registration number 0441.894.089, Jozef Mattheessensstraat 60, 2540 Hove, represented by its President, Francis Verbeeck, president@imo.net, informs you of the following:

  • The data provided now, as well as the data updated or added later for accessing or while accessing your IMO account, and information on membership payments are collected and processed solely for the purpose of account administration (including the possibility to add a personal profile to your account and to upload observational data, photos, and videos), accessing and using a meteor-related forum, IMO membership and WGN subscription administration, the internal organization of the IMO, the proper working of the IMO, pre-populating relevant information in other functionalities of the IMO Website that you seek to use, and for listing you in a “Who is who” on our website.
  • Your personal data will only be disclosed to IMO officers in charge of carrying out the tasks mentioned above under the authority of the IMO, with the exception of personal data you mark as public, and your authorship of photos, videos, and observations, which are also public.
  • Your personal data will be stored for as long as your account is active or until you request their erasure.
  • You have full access to the above data and other personal data you provided via your account, and can update or complete these data, as well as add personal data to create a profile and upload observational data, photos, and videos.
  • You have the right to request from the controller via email to dataprocessing@imo.net access to and rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing concerning of your personal data or to object to processing as well as the right to data portability.
  • You may withdraw the consent we seek for processing your personal data at any time by simple request to the controller via email to dataprocessing@imo.net (without affecting the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data based on your consent before its withdrawal).
  • Information on membership payments included in the IMO’s bookkeeping will not be erased since accounting data must be kept according to the applicable accounting regulations. This information is not public however and will not be disclosed unless legally required. The observational data (including meteor photos and videos) you provided will not be erased because other scientific work may depend on them, but they can be pseudonymized to make them impersonal by simple request to the controller via email to dataprocessing@imo.net.
  • It is not feasible to pseudonymize postings on the forum, and also against the very essence of a forum, as postings may contain references to other postings. You are hereby cautioned about this.
  • If you erase, or request the erasing of, personal data, services which depend on these data can and will no longer be provided.
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

IMO Mailing List (IMO News)

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union, the data controller, the International Meteor Organization (IMO), international non-profit organization under Belgian Law, registration number 0441.894.089, Jozef Mattheessensstraat 60, 2540 Hove, represented by its President, Francis Verbeeck, president@imo.net, informs you of the following:

  • Your first and last name and email address are processed solely for the purpose of subscribing you to IMO-News mailing list, for which we use the free service of Groups.io. For the above, we seek your consent, which is also the legal basis for the processing of your personal data.
  • Your personal data will only be disclosed to IMO officers in charge of carrying out the tasks mentioned above under the authority of the IMO. They will also be provided to Groups.io, which is the platform where the mailing list is managed.
  • Since the IMO News mailing list is managed on Groups.io, the IMO has no direct control over the way in which the personal data of the data subject are handled. Therefore, we recommend you to look at the privacy policy of Groups.io. The IMO web­site has a page with a detailed explanation on the purpose, status, and use of IMO News.
  • Your personal data will be stored for as long as you are subscribed to IMO News or until you request their erasure by unsubscribing.
  • https://policies.oath.com/ie/en/oath/privacy/index.htmlYou have full access to the personal data you provided  to the IMO to subscribe. You can update these data by unsubscribing and subsequently resubscribing.
  • You have the right to request from the controller via email to dataprocessing@imo.net access to and rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing concerning of your personal data or to object to processing as well as the right to data portability.
  • You may withdraw the consent we seek for processing your personal data at any time by unsubscribing. For this purpose, it suffices to send an email to imo-news+unsubscribe@group.io. (This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data based on your consent before its withdrawal).
  • While this action will result in your removal from the mailing list, your posts will not be removed or pseudonymized. Postings may refer to other postings and will have been emailed to the other list members as a consequence of which pseudonymizing of postings is unfeasible and also against the essence of what a mailing list is. We wish to caution the subscriber for this.
  • If you request the erasing of personal data, services which depend on these data can and will no longer be provided.
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

IMO Shop

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union, the data controller, the International Meteor Organization (IMO), international non-profit organzation under Belgian Law, registration number 0441.894.089, Jozef Mattheessensstraat 60, 2540 Hove, represented by its President, Francis Verbeeck, president@imo.net, informs you of the following:

  • The data provided through the IMO Shop are collected and processed solely for the purpose of filling your order and fulfilling the related administrative obligations of the IMO. The information provided is part of the contract between the IMO as seller and you as buyer that governs this order, and this is also the legal basis for the processing of your personal data.
  • Your personal data will only be disclosed to IMO officers in charge of carrying out the tasks mentioned above under the authority of the IMO.
  • The data pertaining to this order will be stored for ten years for legal reasons, as proof of the contract that constitutes the order, and the proper execution thereof, and for bookkeeping purposes, and for these reasons alone.
  • Until the execution of your order, you are welcome to provide us with corrections to errors in your data that might otherwise compromise the proper execution of this order. You also have the right to data portability. Once the order has been executed, the data in it should be considered as historical and are therefore no longer subject to change.
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
